PMP eLearning
eLearning sacrifices nothing compared to traditional classroom courses - you still get opportunities to interact with knowledgeable course facilitators and other students in real time via blogs, study groups, webinars or face-to-face during Skype sessions. Research has shown that, on average, study material must be reviewed three times before it becomes embedded. With eLearning you can review the material as many times as you need to. Modern technology enables the eLearning approach to involve and challenge learners using video clips, narrations, animations, creative quizzes and realistic case studies to inculcate the theory and assess the understanding. Try our free PMP framework challenge online at www.projectpropm.com See if you can pass the multiple-choice knowledge assessment at the end of the sample module. If you want to sit for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam set by the Project Management Institute (PMI) it would be wise to do ProjectPro’s PMP prep eLearning course first. The PMP is the most recognised project management certification in the world. Hundreds of thousands of project managers around the world presently hold this sought-after credential. ProjectPro offers online- or CD-based versions of the eLearning PMP prep course. Both versions earn learners the 35 contact hours of project management education required for sitting the PMP exam at a Prometric testing centre. Even those who are not intending to sit for the PMP exam will find the course invaluable to gain an insight into the knowledge required for successfully managing projects. Try the demo course
Program Management Credential to be Revised The Project Management Institute (PMI) is revising their Program Management Professional (PgMP )® credential examination effective January 2012. This results from the recently completed Role Delineation Study (RDS). Every five to seven years, PMI conducts an RDS for each of its credentials based on the role within program management that the credential serves. This ensures that the credential examinations continue to assess what is most relevant in the day-to-day work of project and program managers as the profession evolves over time. Feedback was collected from more than 1 100 program managers from 79 countries, 119 of whom hold the PgMP credential. The responses met the requirements for statistical relevancy and adequately reflected the profession in geographic, industry and other standard demographics. Of those who participated in the study:
The outcomes of the RDS provide PMI with a blueprint for updating the credential through the PgMP Examination Content Outline. The major outcomes of the PgMP RDS include changes to the:
The new RDS restructures the program management performance domains and tasks. The new PgMP examination will be released globally on 1 January 2012. This means that the last day to take the current PgMP exam is 31 December 2011. ProjectPro offers 2-day PgMP exam preparation workshops in Gauteng. To register email training@projectpro.co.za or visit our website www.projectpro.co.za Tender Dispute Ends up in Court South African courts seem to be bogged down with matters that should never end up in court. Julius Malema, ANC Youth League President should find something to sing that does not cause offence, or sing what he likes, but in the privacy of his shower (Jacob Zuma will attest to the benefits of a shower). Jackie Selebi, former head of the SA Police and Interpol should accept his fate gracefully and not play for time by appealing. Ditto to Mrs Sheryl Cwele, wife of the Minister of State Security, convicted to 12 years in jail for drug dealing. There are many other instances of this wasteful practice. And now Sanyati, the listed construction and engineering group, is taking the eThekwini municipality to court over a tender that was apparently awarded to Esorfranki, the third lowest tenderer whose fixed-price tender was 23% higher tha Sanyati’s. Sanyati submitted its bid in February last year and together with the six other bidders was requested to extend its validity four times Sanyati has also lodged a request in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) for the eThekwini municipality to provide the minutes of meetings of the tender board and other documentation. The municipality requested an additional 30 days to provide the information requested. The company’s objection relates to the Western Aqueduct project in Kwa-Zulu Natal, which involves the installation of about 50km of steel pipeline starting near Inchanga Station through Hillcrest and Kloof, across the Umgeni River and ending at the Ntuzuma Reservoir. Sanyati was the lowest bidder at R699 million. The bid by Esorfranki, the third-lowest bidder, was R864 million, or 23 % higher than Sanyati’s bid and R144 million more expensive than the second lowest bid by Wilson Bayly Holmes-Ovcon (WBHO). Objections to the tender award were also lodged by WBHO and Group Five. According to Sanyati, they have a level-three empowerment rating, is 37 percent black-owned and has the highest grading available from the Construction Industry Development Board, which meant it could tackle a job of any size. The frustration felt by Sanyati and their resorting to the courts is understandable in view of the poor communication displayed by the eThekwini Municipality. More transparency, better communication and fewer adjournments due to lack of preparation, would help to ease the heavy workload on our courts. |
